I had trouble opening DST with "Unable to write to config directory" Error Message Posted: 08 Oct 2020 12:11 AM PDT I found my way My microsoft account was normal I opened Steam and DST as an Administrator and did this: try creating another save directory, separate from your current one (say somewhere else such as c:\DontStarveTogether) and then launch the game with that as the save directory: In steam right-click the game in your library Select 'properties' Click 'Set launch options' Enter '-persistent_storage_root c:\DontStarveTogether' (without the quotes) Close dialog. And the next one Launch the game. Updated Whitney what do you think Posted: 07 Oct 2020 09:03 AM PDT Whitney the spoiled Whitney is a princess of a far off realm before she was transported to the constant. I don't have a backstory but here are some abilities: She has less then average health and hunger and has normal sanity Royal tiara: a unique item exclusive to Whitney which allows her to use her royal charm ability. It can be socketed with different gems to provide different effects. Red: Cold resistance and Whitney cannot be frozen, blue: Heat resistance and Whitney cannot be lit on fire, purple: Whitney emits a torch size light that drains greatly drains sanity for everyone in the light, orange: Increases your movement speed as much as a walking can but cannot be stacked with a cane or a road, yellow: Causes passive sanity regen but also passively drains health and hunger, green: Causes passive health regen but also passively drains sanity and hunger, Iridescent: Causes large sanity regen that counteracts the passive sanity drain from monsters completely. The gems in the crown have a durability and will loose durability when used (or worn for the passive ability's). When they run out of durability all their magic will be used up and the gem will turn into a rock. The tiara also has durability but will be displayed in the inventory sprite. The crown will crack when Whitney takes a certain amount of damage while wearing it and if it cracks 3 times it shatters and the socketed gem along with the crown is destroyed. It can be repaired with marble or gold, gold repairing 1 level and marble completely fixing it. Royal charm: enlisted followers stay your followers for a little longer then normal Magical princess: Birds don't fly away from you when you approach them and Tallbirsa are passive unless provoked. Spoiled: All monsters provide extra passive sanity drain and she looses sanity from eating food that isn't a crock pot dish. She outright refuses to eat any food that harms her heath, sanity, or hunger even if it is a crock pot dish. [PS4] Any way to change language back? Posted: 07 Oct 2020 05:54 AM PDT Hello, I bought Don't Starve a long time ago and stopped playing only to see my mother who never plays games get hooked on it. Thing is that she does not speak english at all and the game was in portuguese but changed the language automatically to english after the last update on the ps4. She can still play even without speaking the language because by now she must have something like 2000h+ in the game and know what is what without needing to read. I'd like to change it back but I could not find any option to do so. The game has shipwrecked and RoG dlcs. Thnx! Edit: forgot to say the ps4 system language is in portuguese and there is no language setting ingame. Noob question (prehaps) Adventure mode first time Posted: 07 Oct 2020 05:14 AM PDT So finally survived long enough to find and try out adventure mode. Even have the online wiki guide to hand just in case. Problem is first world is A Cold Reception Playing as Wilson. Chest by portal contained cut stone some blueprints (various traps) and the diving rod. Is it normal for it to be so cold that you can't move around even during the day? Understand needing a fire in evening / night prehaps but can't build any warm clothes or thermal stone as haven't found gold for science machine. Taken loads of damage due to freezing. Using so many resources on campfires. Knew it would be hard but this is a bit of a kick in the teeth, think guide said you couldn't bringg anything over to first world but prehaps I've fexked that up. TLDR A Cold Reception, spawn with no way of staying warm except for campfire. Red: cold resistance, blue: heat resistance, purple: allows you to call down a bolt of lightning to strike a target, orange: wearing this passively inverses your movement speed and can be stacked with a walking cane but not roads, yellow: wearing this passively creates a light centered on you that is so small you can only see Whitney, green: slightly increases your crafting speed, Iridescent: allows you to shoot a beam of light at a target, dealing massive damage while creating light and freezing them. Pigs in this form are extra formidable when they are transformed into werewolves on the full moon and will target Whitney unless something else provokes them and the same is true if she picks up any meat when around bunnymen. This ability only applies if Whitney is wearing the Royal tiara and if it is taken off or destroyed when she has enlisted pigs or bunnymen, they will become outraged and attack Whitney. This effect will not happen if you are replacing the crown with a different crown.
