    PSA: Chilli power and volt goat jelly works when riding beefalo

    I didn't think it would work because beefalo won't eat volt goat jelly. However, I've done some testing recently and I found that if your character eats volt goat jelly and/or spicy food and mounts a beefalo, the beefalo will deal the electrical and/or increased damage. A few more notes:

    • Feeding a beefalo spicy food will not increase its damage. A bit odd, given the above, but it is what it is.
    • Garlic powder does not work to mitigate damage done to the beefalo, whether eaten by the player character or the beefalo. Pretty disappointing, given that beefalo have no armor.
    • Salted food will give the additional healing when fed to a beefalo.

    New to DST. Any Information for new Players?

    So, I bought the Dont Starve Mega Pack yesterday for about 13 Euros because it was on sale. I am going to play dst alone for a bit, my friend is going to join me soon. I need a couple of characters that should be fairly easy to get into, so feel free to suggest any for solo dst and duos. Also any tips that should help us survive the first days are welcome, or some game mechanics, seasons, etc. (Note: I have wortox due to the fact that I got the mega pack)

    Every time, every gosh darn time I delve into the depths to use the pseudoscience tab, it crashes once i load in, does anyone have a possible explanation?

    (My world is linked to shipwrecked and hamlet so maybe that might have something to do with it?)

    Is Beefalo taming really worth it?

    Sence it takes 20 days to tame one why not just skip it and play as Walter? Besides fighting is there much difference with won't and the Beefalo? And if fighting with Beefalo good or even worth it eather? Lots of questions

    Before the Reap What You Sow update wormwood was pretty neat, hard to heal, but it was the only character that could plants heaps of food.

    *BUUUUTT*

    Since the last update i felt like he was really nerfed since now everyone can plant lots of food, and he didn't get buffs do compensate, the "loss" of his major ability, of course he still can plat outside crop tiles but, c'mon.

    My thoughts on changes to compensate are the following:

    - Wormwood NO LONGER CAN PLANT OUTSIDE CROP TILES! But he can plant without a hoe. It could be a phrase when the try to plant outside one, like "my friend does not like the ground"

    - He can borrow himself in the farm plot to regen health over time at cost of hunger, healing more if the ground is fertilized and wet, maybe a chance to destroy the farm plot or make it sterile(?)

    - planting seeds, saplings, grass turfs etc... restore 5 sanity instead of 10, but

    - talking to plants restore 1 - 2 sanity, HE IS TALKING TO HIS FRIENDS :)

    - something related to treeguards, some sort of befriending mechanic like the beefalo, but with fertilizers, idk

    the last one maybe it's a fix, but:

    - HE CAN STACK DURATION OF HEAL OVER TIME FERTILIZERS (rot, egg, compost)!

    Using 1 rot, wait 2 secs and using another one so i don't wast the regeneration sucks.

    IN CONCLUSION:

    i wish a slight rework to balance with the last update, and i know it wont happen, but that's my dream.

    Quick question about food

    What is the best and most consistent food source that I can get relatively easily? I'm kinda new to this game and I have this problem where I stress out about starving because I don't have a good food source. Any suggestions?

    How to obtain gears (for a noob)

    So, gears are nice. You use them to prevent fires in fire-prone areas of your base via the ice fling-o-matic, you can use them to make the all-important ice box, and....

    So, I've done my very first world as a Webber. I'm at day 101, and only just learned that the map does in fact exist on Switch edition (I probably should've just checked the controls. I did not).
    But, for the very first time, I found the set piece that is where...actually I don't know the name of it, but it has the 'wood thing' that you put the other 'things' on to get...I assume it does something important, but I don't know. I HAVE found a Maxwell's Door in my world so I have no idea what putting the 'things' together actually does.
    But the thing is that the 'thing' setpiece has the clockwork...things. And I was able to collect enough gears for one fling-o-matic and two ice boxes by making the giant-charging one mow over the other ones, and then I'd run back, grab the gears, and run away like a coward because I have no idea how to fight the one that charges. Listen, I can barely fight a pig, let alone some massive thing that charges so hard it kills it's friends.

    But I recently had a red hound attack me while I was moving beefalo to my temporarily-made-of-wood beefalo pen from literally across the map and they burned down my whole pen, killed me, and my stuff burned because my temporarily destroyed pen was not near the ice flingomatic's range. (in fact, I've crammed my smaller berry farm, my chests, my saplings and about 40 tufts of grass into the ice flingo's range and there's not much more room for it.)

    And next to my beefalo pen is a large berry farm that consists of as many berry bushes as I was able to find in my world. I filled up a whole chester worth (I found the eyebone next to maxwell's door while searching for berry bushes. It was awesome to find both at once.)
    This berry farm is so big that I get between 20 and 30 drumsticks from gobblers every time I do a full harvest. and over 40 berries, too.
    And that berry farm...is not protected by a flingo.
    So obviously I need more gears.

    But I'm a scared of fighting. Any tips on where/how I can get more gears?
    (If it helps, I play on nintendo switch on a don't starve world with shipwrecked compatibility turned on.)

    Question about moving to new worlds in don’t starve hamlet, Nintendo switch edition

    I was playing DS hamlet on my switch and i completed the teleportation device to transport me to a new world. When the new world loaded, the game switched my character from WX-78 to Wigfrid.

    I've been playing DS for years and I've literally never had this happen before. Wigfrid is a good character, but WX is my main.

    Has this happened to anyone else/is this a bug/or am I just an idiot? Or all three I don't know at this point.

    Can you keep Beefalos during Spring? (Mating season)

    So when me and my friend were gathering the shadow pieces pieces we tamed a beefalo to do the job. Then we caged it. No salt lick, no nothing, just a cage from stone walls. I thought that it would just stay there and we could retame it when needed, but in spring it started to break walls. I didn't want to make this post firstly because I thought you would be able to keep them in the judging stands, but they can't be put there during Spring.

    So how are you supposed to keep Beefalos in spring?

    I'm not progressing the way I would like

    So I am in late spring in my world. I am surviving, but not really thriving. I am trying to make a bunnyman farm, but I only have five hutches. I wanted to fight moose goose, (kinda just for fun), but seeing that I have 4 days left of spring, and still am struggling to keep my stats up, I don't know if that is gonna be possible. I always see people with massive grass/twig/berry farms as well. I have 10 of each, but they all burned down (meteors suck). I don't really know what to do or how to feel like I have accomplished something.

    How do you hitch beefalo in the new event?

    I press the "hitch to" option and my character says I need a beefalo. I'm standing next to my beefalo but it isn't working. Can anyone help?
