what do you guys think about rolling back?

    Posted: 16 Nov 2020 07:38 PM PST

Recently just died to ancient gaurdian in my world, i felt really shitty about it since i tried to cheese him but failed horribly, getting stuck behind the pillar as all i could do was watch my health go down. Even though trying to cheese him was scummy, i still felt like my death was undeserved as i could not escape from behind the pillar, and rolled back my world. Do you guys think i should just accept it and restart my world, or do you think its okay that i chose to keep my world?

    Large volcano desync?

    Posted: 16 Nov 2020 11:59 PM PST

Day 139, late in the second dry season I go to the volcano to appease it. The game crashes when I enter, and when I restart it's day 90 inside the volcano. Plants are withered and the altar is closed, so I go back outside. It's still day 139, but it's mild season. Wtf.

I've heard desync happens with the volcano sometimes. Day 90 was roughly the last time I had entered it. Is there any way to straighten this out? I'm guessing no, so if anyone has had their volcano desync before, how is this going to effect my game? Is it now the end of mild season (where the seasonal calendar would be on day 90)? And am I going to reset the seasonal calendar to the desynchronized calendar every time I visit the volcano (since if it's already 49 days off sync it might get worse)?

Why a ds comic would be better than an animated series.

Nobody could complain about the characters be voiced by humans and not instruments.

I was down in the ruins when i spotted something very confusing in my inventory. Also when that crown got to 1% it didnt give me the damage reduction and would not break. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

    I’m a demi-noob, question about pierogi

    Posted: 17 Nov 2020 01:42 AM PST

What is the best way to obtain vegetables for pierogi? I know that farms should be avoided so what are other options that don't require too much of preparation especially in the first winter? I was thinking about cactus flesh because they regrow every 4 days, and I can save some for sanity and use some for pierogi. Any better suggestions?

DST public server etiquette/ beginner’s guide.

    Posted: 16 Nov 2020 04:12 PM PST

Dealing with noobs on public servers can be kind of frustrating! We are happy to help... but we aren't going to stop our gameplay for you. Here's some tips to make yourself more useful.

    1. Of you have never played before, make your own world to play on by yourself. Explore, learn the game mechanics, get down the basics. If you can survive until about halfway through winter you should be good. There are plenty of DS you tubers that have great educational content. One super helpful video is this kiting guide so you can fight npcs like a pro!

    2. Get the geometric placement mod. It's not exactly necessary, but actually is useful for placing objects as close together as possible.

    3. Don't rotate your map. This will make communicating directions infinitely easier. When you join in, North is up. If you do screw up your map, get a compass, but do note that sometimes the compass directions may be backwards to what everyone else who just doesn't rotate has. If you are a serial map-rotater, get a compass mod.

    4. Don't expect other players to pick you up at spawn: if we say that the base is west, go west. If you can't find it after going straight west from the portal, keep looking in the general west half of the map. If you can't survive on your own for maybe 4 days of exploration, keep practicing on your own. Besides, knowing where to find other resources is also important, so a little exploration won't hurt.

    5. If you are exploring, there is no need to announce every tree you find. Mention if you find something noteworthy: the dragonfly desert, the pig king, the oasis, and maybe an optimally-located swamp. Additionally, if someone has already said they found the Pig King, there is no need to say that you also found it. 1 person is enough.

    6. People spend the first 3-8 days exploring. Don't bother asking where the base is if it is day 2.

    7. Farms use too many resources to be useful. You can make them, but it is more than possible to survive without them. Honestly, don't bother.

    8. Don't rely on picking flowers for sanity. It's ok, but there are better sources that don't involve killing your chance to get butter muffins. Additionally, nightmare fuel is actually really helpful! If you can learn to kite the terrorbeak and crawling horror, then kill them. Do try to stay above 15% sanity so they don't start piling up. 1 crawling horror is doable, 3 terrorbeaks is rough.

    9. Speaking of butter muffins, look at crock pot recipes other than meatballs. They work, but foods like trail mix and fish sticks are great... pierogis are great. (Get a birdcage) also for the love of god please don't make monster lasagna or wet goop.

    10. Consider characters that play to your strengths- if you want to be a helper and stay near base, play wickerbottom, if you are good at combat, play wigfrid, etc. But try not to dupe the other characters. Look at these character combos to get a sense of which character may be useful with the other characters already playing.

    11. If you don't know what to do, don't stand around, just ask how you could be helpful!

    With that, happy (not) starving!

    Question - Forever Wilted Farm

    Posted: 16 Nov 2020 01:05 PM PST

This is for my DS RoG compatible with SW save file, no mods.

I have an improved farm that is forever in a wilted state since summer (it's currently spring). When I click on it, my character comments that it's still growing. I can't harvest it for cut grass and I can't hammer it either.

I read this in the DS wiki on farms, but I tried planting a seed over it and there wasn't an option to do that either:

"If a farm catches fire while growing and is extinguished before burning, the farm will have a "cropless crop" where the leaves behind the fruit will open as if a harvest is ready, but with no fruit to display, and the character will comment like the plant is still growing. This can be fixed by just planting another seed."

Is there anyway I can fix this? Thank you!

    Megabase checklist

    Posted: 16 Nov 2020 12:54 PM PST

Hi r/ds, I'm relatively new to the series but am quickly becoming a hardcore player. Im coming up on day 300 and our group has quite the base going. I've seen a couple of posts about megabases, we might not go that far but, does anyone have a checklist of farms and/or things to setup in a well established base? Mostly looking for stuff that wont require a full relocate but can definitely build satellite bases if necessary.

    So far we have:

    • Pigman farm
    • Bunnyman farm
    • Berry bushes
    • Mushroom planters
    • Evergreen forest
    • Twiggy tree forest
    • Spider farm
    • Grass gekko pen
    • Koalafent pen

Working on establishing a nearby beefalo herd as well. What are we missing?

    Wendy vs Willow

    Posted: 16 Nov 2020 10:45 AM PST

I love summoning characters. That have powerful followers that are always with you.

    (Also I am playing DST)

But I heard both characters there reworked and now have a purpose.

Wendy is basically co op with ghost. I found her stupidly broken in farming honey from killer bees, especially if I got lucky to have bee hive biome.

Willow is weaker than Wendy, even in stats. But her summon can safe from nightmares if you can't defeat them yourself. Sure I don't get sanity when he kills them, but him taunting at least gives me a chance to run around to do something with it. But still Wendy's feels better, but I heard she is completely immune to fire damage. And I was also finally deciding to soon move from settling in King Pig's biome, to manga desert. Since I love picking up free loot boxes, aka tumbleweed. And I remember there where lava pools which will damage you if you come too close. But now I am thinking, if I'll play Willow does that mean I'd have an infinite campfire that also provides a lot of heat (also yeah I know that she have bad news with cold stuff). But I am curious. Bernie is basically like a mini boss, and I was thinking. Could I + Bernie be able to easily defeat Deerclops compare to Wendy (of course with pig helmet and ham bat), or is Wendy still better in that regard.

What you personally think and why? And you can tell some extra tips for both characters if you know them.
