    Taming beef

    Posted: 09 Nov 2020 11:02 PM PST

Just a quick question. How many people even tried to tame beefalo amoung you all and did you even know that you can do so? I have tamed around 5-6 beefs throughout my whole DST gaming experience and I know almost all difficulties in that process. So how was it and was any usefull to you in the long run?

    [DST] Controlling Maxwell's Shadow Puppets?

    Posted: 09 Nov 2020 10:00 PM PST

So is there a way to stop the puppets from just mining and chopping fucking everything or are they just going to be irritating and worthless like that? I liked Maxwell in the base game but in DST it's just annoying.

The first year with no "cheating" survived!

    Posted: 09 Nov 2020 02:24 PM PST

When I first started out playing, I did it on easy mode with no bosses, no winter and no summer. I still have a save with 120 nightless days on it, but I felt like I'd learned enough and started to play somewhat properly.

The nights and seasonal difficulties really messed me up for a while, but I'm slowly starting to get the hang of it. I did disable rain on this world because I'm maining WX-78 and I'm not quite ready for this yet (tried multiple times and failed miserably enough that I need to collect courage to try it again), but it's really going quite well. I survived summer very barely thanks to the silk I collected so I could catch birds for food because for some reason I always run out of rocky items to make either type of fire pit. The winter wasn't actually as bad because I managed to kill a winter Koalaphant and made a vest, even though the I lost half of my health to the cold in the battle process. I was somehow able to just camp near berry farms with pigs and and eat birds alongside them.

Funnily enough, spiders are still my biggest enemy (even though I failed to kill Deerclops) because now I wandered into another part of the map where I haven't been before and of course I was met by another forest covered in spiders. I was able to get rid of (I hope) most of them and eliminated about 6 t3s and even more t2s, but Ialmost died to them a billion times along with starving because there's literally only 2 berry bushes in the entire section of the map. There's still a lot of spiders there which I'm very unhappy about as I am absolutely terrified of spider queens (I got scared of them even as Webber) but it's amost summer again and I need to get across the entire map back to my main base where there's stuff to make it out alive, meaning that I just don't have the time to kill these goddamned spiders. I got 4 and a half stacks of silk just from that forest which I hope it 5/7th of the area because if it's any more than that, I will be absolutely obliterated. Went through like 8 football helmets and 6 log suits in there and still got out with under half health. This is why I'd prefer to explore the entirety of my world before settling down but unfortunately the seasons don't allow for such arrangements.

But anyways, thanks for reading through this! I'm just really happy I made it this far after putting like 80 hours total into this mess. I'm just celebrating until I ultimately meet my doom once again.

Looking for people to play with

    Posted: 09 Nov 2020 07:41 PM PST

I want to find some chill people to play dst with, I don't mind if your new to the game or something but I feel intimidated by all those day 1000 wigfrid players.. nothing against them. My farthest world is day 274, it would be higher but I made a new world at that point. I'm only on on the weekends, Friday afternoon to Sunday night. My PSN and steam are HojMcFoj, I have dst on both so either is fine :) feel free to message me if you want to make plans!

    Tips/Recommended settings for larger groups?

    Posted: 09 Nov 2020 11:14 AM PST

I am planning on hosting a weekly private server that will have about 6-10 friends dropping in and out (I'll be using a mod to increase the max player count), and i have a few things I am wondering:

    1. Can anyone provide insight on how DST scales depending on group size in terms of creatures' hp and availability of resources, or is it the same whether you have 1 player or 6?
    2. Are there recommended world-gen settings for larger groups, such as increasing certain resources?
    3. Since I have a few beginners in the group, i am thinking of making Autumn longer so they get more comfortable with the game before winter starts. Are there any other recommendations for accommodating a larger group that will have a few beginners in it?

Edit: we will be playing on Endless

    What am I getting into?

    Posted: 09 Nov 2020 07:13 AM PST

I'm new to the game (just got it today) and don't want spoilers. I have reign of giants and shipwrecked, but I'm not playing shipwrecked yet. My question is how in depth is this game? Is it going to be like minecraft where there's lots to do, but not much to do? Is there a lore or story to be uncovered, will the mechanics expand as I unlock more, am I going to become helplessly addicted, or is it just much of the starting phase, running around exploring and picking grass? Please fill me in as much as possible without spoiling, I'm curious what this game has to offer, it's very charming but as it stands it's beginning phase is getting a bit old. I'm hoping it sort of explodes open as I unlock new things to build, the science machine looks promising.
