    Why do people do this?!?!

    Posted: 22 Jun 2020 08:56 AM PDT

I am thinking of making a DST mod for some sort of lights out+ kind of deal. This post is 1. To see how much appeal there is for such a thing, and 2. Get thoughts on my (very early) concept art for a sort of nocturnal pig for lights out +, being a skunk.

Does anyone actually successfully benefit from playing Warly?

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 12:22 AM PDT

It just makes me spend the whole time trying to find new foods for him to make, and it takes forever to get the spice things set up, much less having ingredients for them.

Doesn't anyone play him successfully? Do his strengths actually lead to benefits?

    Character Lore Speculation

    Posted: 22 Jun 2020 10:06 AM PDT

I've been digging into the lore of the game lately and found some interesting stuff I wanted to share that with other people. Following is basically a rant on a lot of hidden lore in the game so here we go.

    1. Wickerbottom Wicker's backstory is currently unknown, but when she gets reworked I think I can predict her short already.

When Wicker examines anything that burnt down she will say something along the lines of that it isn't useful anymore, but when she examines the Hamlet Tinkerers Tower and Swinesbury Mineral Exchange she says: "I'm familiar with destructive fires." and "I know the sorrow of losing so much to fire." respectively.

Then on the Connections vignette there is a poster that reads: "Flame consumes New York library" I don't believe that's a coincidence.

There is one other interesting quote from her namely from the Scaled Chest upon examining it she says: "Scales, scales are the winner." She is looking at the thing that could've saved her library from burning down.

Also we know that 2 other characters were brought to the Constant through fire namely Wagstaff and Winona.

Speaking of Wagstaff 2. Wagstaff and WX-78 A lot of theories went around about WX's creator, but I have conclusive evidence that it is Wagstaff. First of all when WX examines a campfire he says: "It reminds me of something." probably referring to the factory fire in the Voxola.

And when Wagstaff examines WX on the Nightmare Throne he says: "Is that...? But it couldn't be!" seemingly recognizing WX. Also the Voxola radio's full name is the Voxola PR-76 if the number is the number of the invention by Wagstaff then WX-78 would come just after the Voxola.

And lastly when Wagstaff examines Floaty Boaties he states: "Incredible, I had many difficulties waterproofing my automaton." and we know one automaton that isn't conpletely waterproof.

    1. Willow The Compendium states "It wouldn't be the first time Willow burned everything down to start it all over again." so maybe she started the factory or library fire or both. She could've been an orphan working in the factory, but theres no evidence for that, just wanted to bring it up.

    2. Webber Webber mentions that his father was a scientist and when examining Maxwell says "That jerk tricks US." Now Webber looks like a Constant spider so maybe he was also eaten in the Constant and that means Maxwell tricked him and his father.

    3. Why are these people in the Constant? Zeklo made great videos about this games lore and he stated they were all connected through susceptibility to insanity and I think that's true, but theres one extra thing.

They are all looking for something and the Constant has the answer. Wilson sought secret knowledge granted to him by Maxwell.

Willow wanted to leave behind her old life as an orphan.

Wolfgangs vignette states that he considers the day he joined the survivors to be the day his luck finally took a turn for the better.

The Constant allows Wensy to summon her dead sister.

    WX-78 No Data Found.

If my theory is true Wickerbottom was looking for something that could've prevented the fire in her library.

Woodie was looking for a way to control his curse and that happened, because of his time in the Constant and a few additional tips from Ms. Wickerbottom as the Compendium states.

Wes, probably his injuries had something to do with this, but no evidence.

Maxwell was looking to be a succesful magician which he would definitely be now.

    Wigfrid No Data Found

Webber Maxwell said he could help them.

Winona was looking for her sister which she's found now.

Warly basically only weak point in this theory thus far. Suggestions?

Walter was looking for answers on the werebeaver which Woodie should have. Edit 1: Due to his quote for the Celestial Altar I believe he discovered the werebeaver and nobody believed him so that's why he was looking for answers.

    Bonus Track: DS exclusive characters

Wagstaffs description says that he finds himself exactly where he wanted to be.

Wheeler is also intent on exploring the Constant and therefore that balloon crash probably wasn't an accident.

I don't mention the DST DLC characters because they're native to the Constant and therefore didn't have a reason to come here.

That's it what did you think about all this, really looking out to the next couple reworks, hope Wicker gets one soon.

Btw this is not the end of my digging, I still have a lot of characters quotes to dig through so I will probably update this sometime in the future.

Edit 1: A lot of these desires can be found back through the gestalts. Which promise everyone something. To Wilson Knowledge To Willow Unknown To Wolfgang Unending Mightiness To Wendy a living Abigail To WX-78 Unknown To Wickerbottom Knowledge and probably the biggest library with all the knowledge in the world To Woodie a way to get rid of his curse To Maxwell Unknown To Wigfrid probably glory in battle To Webber probably revenge on Maxwell To Winona to get her sister back To Warly to get home to Maman Angeline To Wortox Forgiveness To Wormwood probably to help out nature and also friendship To Wurt a story unlike those she has ever heard before To Walter that people will listen to him for once. (The celestial altar not the gestalt, still counts tho)

Just killed Dragonfly for the first time

Just killed Dragonfly for the first time

Decided to rush Dfly as Wigfrid cause i wanted to try her out, I had never fought dragonfly before and managed to kill her on day 16 with 4 Marble suits, 2 log suits, 6 battle helms, a ham bat, Pan flute, and PIEROGI.

I'd say it worked out pretty well

EDIT: I didn't use any walls/exploits for the kill, just running around like a crazy person trying not to get hit by Lavae

Holy crap this game got big?

    Posted: 22 Jun 2020 10:29 AM PDT

Last i played DST had just gotten the giants added to it. Now aparently there are more than 5 characters and caves and moon rocks and.... a tonne of stuff. I was going to introduce some friends but i feel like i don't know anything about this game anymore.

I tried googling some recent guides and it seems like there is so much now all the guides focus on one specific mechanic or assume you know a lot already. (there's magic?). Look forward to rediscovering the game.

Should I get Don't Starve Together?

    Posted: 22 Jun 2020 11:28 AM PDT

I've played Don't Starve since it was made free in psn. Had a good run in the Reign of Giants, but now im curious about DTS. I love playing survival games with friends but Minecraft doesnt pose much of a challenge. It's been almost 2 years since I've played but just wondering if y'all jave input on DTS.
