My experience on "easier" mods on workshop

    Posted: 22 Oct 2019 04:44 PM PDT

So after playing DST for a while, I've noticed a trend of people using mods like Craftable Gears and things like WX not losing upgrades on death, and marble suit not slowing the player down...Or everyone being able to make and read Wickerbottom books. Or Warly items without his penalty. But it's more about mods in general, since I've got a lot to talk.

While I understand the existence of things like Combined Status which is very useful to know your stats on the go and Status Announcements for telling your teammates about your status instantly without long text chat or voice chat, as well other client only mods that only enhance player convenience, like player names or gestures wheel.

I also understand why people like achievement mod, because it gives upgrades in exchange for doing tasks, like again, being able to craft character specific items like making and reading books and Warly's kitchenware, but you have to work for it in order to do that. Yes it gives a lot of utility, but again, unlike the examples below, you have to work in order to get such power and making yourself incredibly versatile.

What I don't like and understand is how people think that gears that can be crafted for 2 flint and 2 doodads balanced...at best it turns gears from rare to uncommon resource and fuel for WX mains(which most hosts that don't play WX will ban and kick anyone who even dares to play as him), as well building LOTS of ice flingomatics and ice boxes while justifying that "we don't abuse since we don't have robot", to at worst, a COMMON resource that you amass in STACKS before first winter or even hunting clockworks in ruins in the first place. Or tumbleweeds, but neither comes in stacks.

I also don't understand how people think making chester for 1 monster meat and 1 ash is balanced since people will eventually have LOTS of chesters, which is insanely overpowered for reasons too obvious if you have like 100 on them on your screen. And even better, you can have them in caves, because forget about Hutch. Chester is like Pig King and Pan Flute for gods sake, not something you should have right away.

Mods that allow to craft something character specific or rare resources for too much like 1 deerclops eyeball for a gear are considered bad for obvious reasons, while mods that allow crafting rare things for too cheap like 6 tentacle spots for a krampus sack are considered good...If you want to get such items for cheap, how about using console commands if you want everything? Hell, even "hardcore" mods are considered mostly bad because instead of making the game more fun(but not necessarily easier)they make it more annoying and frustrating, like Warly's food penalty for no boosts on everyone, or Wes stats on literally everyone. Or even better, Wormwoods health penalty! Now that's going to anger people should someone make it.

While character mods like Myth Worlds are great because they add something unique and new while also staying in theme along with different play style, and powerful items in it require work to begin with, there's also characters that are "unpurposely" overpowered, like Wilson reskins that have immunity to either weather, or some dumb character with Wigfrid/Wolfgang hybrid-like strength, but Wilson dialogue and nothing to make them unique outside of being powerful during combat. Or Warly wannabes, that can make 150 hunger/sanity/health foods out of 2 frog legs and 2 morsels. Or innate nightvision, the bane along with speed boosts. Haven't they learned a lesson from Wilbur's speed? Or like 50% damage boost for 1.1x hunger multiplier? How people can call that Wigfrid level of balance? And yet many of these creators have commissions to create more of these boring ones instead of making you know, 1 unique addon that will be respected for quality.

I can't say for more, but I hope I'd hear your take on this. I would like something unique, not something that ends up being another Wolfgang powerhouse that can eat gears to restore stats and upgrade, read and make books, make battle helms and spears, make and use Warly's cookware, having Wortox souls and also making living logs like Wormwood.

When is Wurts exact release date?

    Posted: 22 Oct 2019 07:01 PM PDT

Obviously the website says Thursday Oct 24th but the gift reset time (from what I've found online) is 1 pm PST so if it possible that on Wednesday 1 pm PST comes around and they are released? Or would it be Wednesday 12 PM PST going right into the next day? Anyone know? I haven't been around for any other character releases.

Need help - Backpack unusable after opening saved game file

    Posted: 22 Oct 2019 05:23 PM PDT

Opened up a saved game and I'm not able to select anything in my backpack.

I've tried looking for a solution online, tried c_gonext("backpack") but that didn't work. My game is up-to-date, and there was no update between the date I last played and now.

Has anyone else experienced this? Did you find a solution?

    Thanks in advance
